Cobham staff, students, whānau and community members enjoyed a delicious hangi lunch together last Thursday.
Kia ora te whānau,I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone who supported the hangi by buying a lunch and to those who jumped in and helped out with the prep and serving work. A hangi is a huge amount of work BUT it is a wonderful event to be involved in and beautifully combines the Māori values of whānaungatanga, aroha, mahitahi & manaakitanga….not to mention we all get a mean feed at the end!
A very special thanks to Mr Lane, Mr McKee and Mr Norgate for their blood, sweat & blister-inducing digging of the hangi pit, to Mrs Crouch for all her help with the money & orders, to Miss Noetzli & Miss McGregor and our kapahaka for their performance and to Mrs Lane for her generous support with the food preparation and use of her Food Tech room and equipment.
Also, a special thank you to my Dad Matua Reg and my brother Matua Nathan for their planning, preparation, equipment, expertise and hard work - koia kei a kōrua, ngā mihi nunui ki a kōrua mō ō kōrua mahi, ka mau te wehi e te whānau!
Once again, the Cobham whānau has been very giving and helpful during a really busy time of year for you all and I appreciate it immensely!
Arohanui,
